When did you join the band? – September 2009

What’s your favourite piece of Brass Band music and why? – Too
many to pick from but if I had to choose just one it will be “Tallis
Variations” by Philip Sparke. My first ever contest win was with this piece and
it’s a great piece to listen to and play.

Which
performance that you have taken part in has been the most memorable? – Again
too many to choose from! One will be the West Midlands Brass Band Association
contest at Leamington where we won with “Tallis Variations”. Another will be
Langley’s area contest win in 2010 playing “A Moorside Suite”. Also playing at
Menin Gate in Belgium for Remembrance Day service on Remembrance Day itself.

Which
other types of music do you enjoy listening to? – I enjoy Film music and
anything other than modern day pop rubbish!

What
hobbies do you have outside of music? – Really enjoy football and I’m a Walsall
season ticket holder. Cycling is also another hobby of mine as well.

Wayne is a Civil Servant and joined the band in September 2019 and enjoys Film Music – but doesn’t like modern ‘pop’ rubbish.

His favourite Brass Band piece is Tallis Variations which was his first-ever Contest win
